Are you an incredible piano teacher?

If so, we have an incredible opportunity for you!

McAllister Music Studio, SF’s premier music school, just opened a 2nd branch in the Mission District of San Francisco. Located on 22nd street between Mission and Valencia, we are so excited to be joining such a vibrant and artistic area of the city, with two infamous SF venues right on our block, the Makeout Room, and the Revolution cafe!

We are looking for the best teachers in the city to build our already rockin team of teachers and students.  Full and part time positions available starting August 28th.

This is an incredible position for pianists, singers, singer songwriters, & recording engineers. We need teachers who can work with students as young as 4 and all the way. We have a vibrant community of real musicians, musicians that understand the foundations of music, music theory, notation, and apply that directly to the style of music they are most interested. MMS students are local singer songwriters, jazz musicians, improvisers, classical musicians, producers, engineers, and artists of all styles and genres.

Our new studio hosts 3 teaching rooms, each equipped with beautiful upright pianos, a Fender Rhodes,  and a recording studio, and a performance venue.

At MMS students we teach the fundamentals and then give students the opportunity to write their own music, record in our  in house recording studio  and perform live in our performance venue. We have several open mics, community outreach performances, master classes, and recitals during the year. These events give our students and teachers the opportunity to perform, meet other musicians, collaborate, and share music together in our beautiful city.

Our specialty is in teaching music in both a traditional style (understanding music theory, reading music, learning proper technique, etc) and in a more "pop" style (understanding chord progressions, playing by ear, playing jazz, funk, pop, rock, etc). Songwriting, improvisation, and creativity also have a very strong emphasis. Through a very high level of expertise and experience, we teach our students to play the music they love and to have fun doing it!

We are looking teachers who can teach in a similar style, keeping music relevant to all students by letting them learn in a genre that is most interesting to them and drawing the parallels between the great classics and modern music. The ideal teacher will be well versed in classical, jazz, pop, rock, funk, etc and can play by ear and read music. Also, if you are currently performing, especially in a band or original project, this is a huge bonus! If you are able to sing or help students with singing while playing, this is great. We have many singer/songwriters in our school.

A passion for music and for teaching is key! All of the teachers at MMS are exceptional teachers and also have vibrant careers in the music industry, playing in bands, performing live, recording albums, etc. I am hoping to find someone who can add to the fantastic family that we have created at MMS.

  • Pay at MMS is very competitive and is based on prior experience and level dedication to MMS.

  • MMS teachers have access to our brand new state of the art music studios in both the Lower Haight and the Mission, for personal practice, recording, and setting up personal performances. MMS has a Boston upright piano, a Hamilton upright, a Yamaha Upright, a Everett upright, a Kawai upright, a Baldwin Grand, a Nord Electro, a Roland Gaia, a Fender Rhodes, and a brand new recording studio.

  • MMS handles all scheduling, billing, and payment for our teachers. MMS teachers just show up and teach! We run on a semester system and have a very strict cancellation policy which means that when students cancel, you still get paid. At MMS, you can expect the same amount in your paycheck each pay period. And if a student cancels and we put a “one-off” lesson into that slot, you get paid double.

  • For the right teacher who is interested in helping to grow our school and build programming, there is endless opportunity. We have a long wait list and have grown in leaps and bounds since our opening 8 years ago. We are number 1 on Yelp and continue to have the best reputation of any school in the city.
