LESSON FORMATS
IN-PERSON vs ONLINE, WHAT SHOULD I CHOOSE?
At MMS, we believe there is great value in both In-Person and Online learning and we are honored to have the opportunity to serve our students in both formats.
There are 3 formats for you to choose from!
In-Person Lessons + In-Person Events
In-Person lessons allow us to connect in the flesh with our teachers! We love that! They allow us to play duets, to sing together in real time, and to access our tactile learning function. Our In-Person Lessons take place at our MMS studio in the Mission district of San Francisco, located at 3280 22nd St. between Mission & Valencia.
In-Person Events provide opportunities to share our music with others AND to engage in the social aspect that we love so much. With In-Person events, we get to feel the energy in the room, hear the subtleties of the piano strings and see the smile on someone’s face when the music is moving them. Our In-Person events occur at incredible venues throughout the Bay Area including MMS in the Mission, Noe Valley Ministry, Bottom of the Hill Legendary Rock Venue, Tiny Telephone Recording Studio and more!
Online Lessons + In Person Events
Online Lessons + In Person Events allows you to take lessons with your favorite MMS teacher from the comfort of your own home while also engaging in our fabulous In-Person events, occurring at various venues throughout the Bay Area including MMS in the Mission, Noe Valley Ministry, Bottom of the Hill Legendary Rock Venue, Tiny Telephone Recording Studio and more!
With this format, you will have a highly valuable learning experience with your teacher each week online and then share what you’ve learned with your community In-Person. We consider this option a win-win for everyone!
3. Online Lessons + Online Events
This format is great for anyone who enjoys the Online learning experience and is unable to join our events in person, for students who live outside of Bay Area, students who travel often, and even students who are close by but would prefer to join us from the comfort of your own home.
Online learning brings people together from different time zones, allows us to participate in events we might otherwise miss due to distance, and allows us to share our performances with friends and family all over the world. At MMS we are committed to delivering you the highest quality Online events, ensuring that you have opportunities to hone your skills in front of a virtual audience, while feeling the love of the MMS community.
From open mics, recitals, recording sessions, a live Holiday TV special, and curated music videos of our MMS students, we think there is no end to what we can do with our Online events and we are excited to continue to offer these events to our students, both in the Bay Area and across the world.
PLEASE NOTE:
There is no option to “mix and match” your lessons and events. If you choose In-Person options, you must utilize your lessons in person. No exceptions will be made for tardiness, sickness, or any other reasons. If you miss an In-Person lesson, you will be directed to our makeup classes to reschedule. If you choose In-Person events, you will not be eligible to perform in our Online events. If you choose Online events, you will not be eligible to perform in our In-Person events. Please consider this when choosing your lesson format.
The only exception to this will be for pre-approved travel requests. In-person students may request a portion of their lessons, particularly in the summer, to be switched to Online. These requests must be approved ahead of time so teachers may prepare for this switch. Please send written request two weeks prior to date of travel.
If you wish to register for BOTH our In-Person and our Online Events, you may do so for a small additional fee. Please email us to include this upgrade at the time of registration.
