Originally from San Diego, Chris Schnalzer began his musical journey as a choir singer at age 12. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Redlands in 2023 and completed his teaching credential through San Diego State University in 2025. As a performer, he has sung with the San Diego Master Chorale and performed as a chorus member with Mainly Mozart, gaining experience across a range of professional choral settings. A classically trained vocalist versed in many styles, he also plays guitar and piano, both of which shape his teaching.

Most recently, Chris taught private piano lessons through Arms Wide Open, a San Diego nonprofit, working with students of all ages and skill levels on everything from fundamentals to advanced technique, always with an emphasis on confidence, creativity, and genuine enjoyment. He also served as Performing Arts Director at Coronado Middle School, leading a program of over 60 students across choir and musical theater. Under his direction, students performed at local events, trained at the Disney Imagination Campus, and staged a production of Beauty and the Beast Jr.

Chris is passionate about helping students find their own voice and creativity, and believes music builds confidence, expresses emotion, and connects people. He has extensive experience teaching learners of all abilities, including students with special needs, and is committed to creating a supportive, encouraging space for every student. Drawing on his background in classical training, contemporary music, and music education, he helps students build strong fundamentals while embracing their individuality. Whether a student is just starting out or refining advanced skills, Chris is excited to help them grow into confident, expressive musicians playing the music they love.
