Summer Lessons FAQ

Considering Summer lessons but have some concerns?

We know it can be tempting to take summer off. . . With our online lessons, you can still travel, take a much needed break from screens, AND still continue to pursue your music! We address some common concerns below. And if we miss any here, please don’t hesitate to reach out and we’ll see if we can find a solution for you!

Addressing Common Concerns:

1. We are traveling during the summer.

Great! Simply bring your laptop or phone with you and continue your learning!

We’ve put together these Travel Gear & Technology Recommendations that will enable you to continue your lessons from anywhere!

2. I have to miss multiple lessons during the summer.

We understand that things like travel and other summer activities may impact your ability to keep your weekly lesson time. In addition to make-up credits that allow you to book when another student cancels, we can also work with you to try to avoid summer absences where possible. While we can guarantee it, Naomi is more than happy to work with you to get creative and see what your teacher’s schedule can accomodate.

Please reach out ASAP with the dates in question & let us help you!

3. My kids really need a break from the computer this summer.

We agree! Getting off of the screens is highly encouraged. But keep in mind that lessons are only once a week and sometimes just mixing it up can make lessons feel less like school and more like a creative adventure!

At MMS we offer piano, voice, guitar, songwriting, music production, and piano/voice or piano/guitar combo. All of our teachers are highly trained and capable of teaching their instrument plus music theory, improv, technique, ear training, songwriting and more!

SOME THOUGHTS FROM US ON SUMMER LESSONS

1. Our online lessons allow for you (and our teachers) to enjoy travel while still continuing your lessons.
We’ve thought through all the scenarios for you, and we’ve tried it out ourselves. Travel + Online lessons are a wonderful pair!

2. Real Talk... teachers need to get paid during the summer!
Part of the MMS promise to you is that your teacher makes you the priority. They work hard all year long to be the best teachers they can for you.

We make sure our teachers have at least 4 weeks off during the year so they can rest and rejuvenate. Beyond that, they want to keep teaching! And let’s face it, they need income during the summer months as well.

3. Consistency is key!

We’ve observed that students who find success and ultimately joy and fulfillment in their music have ONE thing in common.
It's not talent, or a "natural gift", and it's not even discipline and hard work at all times (practice and motivation come and go).
It's CONSISTENCY.
Music is a journey. And if you want it to stay with you for a lifetime, you gotta keep on trucking.
We know it's tempting to take summers off, which is why we try to offer you more flexibility and FUN during the summer months!
