Setting Up A Controller with a Desktop or Laptop Computer & Ableton Live Lite for Zoom Lessons


FOR PC USERS:

1. Follow directions in video.

2. Open Ableton Live Lite (download ahead of time using the link)

3. Click on top menu "Options" ---> "Preferences"

4. For Driver Type, select "MME/Direct X"

5. For Audio Output Device, select something like "Speakers" or "Realtek." Some systems may be different here, try each of the options here if doesn't work.

6. In Zoom, click "Share Screen," and before clicking "Share", check the box for "Share Computer Sound" on the bottom left.

7. In Ableton, on the top left area of the screen, there is a search bar. Search for "piano." The column below will show some piano options. Double click on one.

8. Press the button on the right side to make it bright red.

9. Press piano keys. There should be sound.

10. All settings should be automatically saved for the next session and should work when you start Ableton again. Not, check preferences first..

Troubleshooting:

1. If after all steps are completed, and there is no sound, try different output settings in "Preferences."

2. If there is a great delay between what you play and what you hear, try lowering the "Input Buffer Size" under "Latency" in the same "Preferences" window.


FOR MacOS USERS:

5. For Audio Output Device, select "ZoomAudioDevice"
